The pregnant women use hair dryers, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, or live near an airport can make their children at risk of asthma, the researchers said.
The expert group from California, USA, looked at 800 pregnant women and their exposure to electromagnetic fields (generated from the products listed above or from the runway). Next, they monitored the baby is born until age 13, and asthma status of these children.
As a result, the babies born to women exposed to high-energy electromagnetic fields during pregnancy, the risk of asthma 3 times higher.
The researchers believe this finding may explain in part why the incidence of asthma in children jumped in a few decades back.
This is the first time, scientists point out that the use of hair dryer, microwave or even live near high voltage power lines during pregnancy can lead to asthma. Previously, the research also showed that electromagnetic energy can increase the risk of miscarriage and some cancers.
High voltage power lines are sources of electromagnetic fields dangerous.
Some experts were immediately denied the new findings, and points out that there are many other causes that can cause asthma.
However, the authors claim, this risk can not be ignored. They also urged that pregnant women reduce the use of hair dryers, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, fans, and coffee grinder, or at least avoid them.
Dr. De-Kun Li, from research agencies in Oakland, California, said: "The message here is that exposure to electromagnetic fields is not good, and we need to attach to the negative effects of it with health ".
